For those with a few basic woodworking skills and some good poker table plans, trying to build a poker table rather than buying one could be a rewarding accomplishment. A handmade poker table can serve as a beautiful and useful piece of bar furniture, and will provide you with many years of great play.

One of the first things you will notice when looking for poker table plans is there is a huge variety out there. There are so many shapes and sizes, with so many options available, that your head may go swimming wondering what to choose.

There are long oval poker tables that are made more for tournament poker. They work fine if you've got available space for one, and the room is going to be primarily for poker and not many other activities. If you regularly host poker nights of up to 11-12 people, then these long tables for you. Many times, the poker table plans are for building a poker table that actually just consists of a poker table-top that lays over an existing regular or fold-out table you already have. These are great for being able to put the whole poker table-top away when not in play, or when poker is not your entertainment for the night.

Many of both the long and the round, or even the octagon poker table plans will allow you to attach banquet table legs that can be folded under when not in use. You can easily fold these legs under for easy storage when not playing.
