Home Game Room Ideas
A Home Game Room, or rec room design for your home bar lets you choose what you like in electronic and bar games. Let's take a fun look at all the possibilities when converting a spare room into a game room.
What is a game room or home rec room design, anyway? Here we'll refer to it as a spare room (actually a home bar room because that is what this site is about) that will have other forms of entertainment besides drinking.
These games, which will be mostly electronic games, will provide entertainment to your home bar guests when drinking and socializing by themselves aren't quite enough.
There are any number of electronic games or video games that you can buy and use in your home game room. There are tons of various arcade games like pinball machines, air hockey tables, foosball, and/or hundreds of video games that can be purchased for a home entertainment or game room fun.
The first thing to decide is what kind of game room atmosphere you are looking for. If you are wanting an adult game room type of design, where the bar is still the focal point of the room, then your game room bar should have the type of entertainment and games that appeal to adults more often than kids.
There will be game machines and games the kids will have fun playing, but since the bar atmosphere is what you are after in this design, let's see what kind of home game room designs ideas are out there for you and the other adults who will be using the game room.
One option with an adult game room design is to buy electronic bar games with a retro feel, or those vintage games that were in just about every bar, tavern, or beer joint from the 60's on. Used arcade games like a shuffleboard table or the 10 Pin Bowling games, as well as vintage pinball machines are available completely serviced and ready for home game room play.
If vintage video arcade games are your thing, most classic games can be found in specialty shops and the internet, all shopped out and ready to go. Tucked against a wall, a couple of these full-sized vintage video games would be nice additions to any game room scenario. Another option is a bar table video game This will serve two purposes...as a table and as a video game.
If you have the room space available, a foosball table, air hockey game, or a stick hockey game are all good game options. They also will become a centerpiece of the game room if that is what you want.
Of course, the classic home bar game is darts. With a fairly little amount of space, you can hang put up a dart board, or get an electronic darts game for a great addition to your home game room.
Home game room electronic and arcade games are expensive, so choose wisely. Use your imagination and pick the games that you enjoy so much they will entertain you for years. The reason is you won't ever have as many games as a regular arcade, so you want the few games with a lasting appeal to you.
